I started writing this post several days ago, but due to life I failed to finish it. I've decided to rewrite the introduction to explain this tiny fact. I would love to go back to writing three days a week on this blog, but I do not expect to be able to do that for some time. If I ever can. I will maintain this blog for as long as possible, reviewing films and anime and books and games.

Yusibu [Anime Review]

There have been a string of anime about heroes, demons, etc. getting real world jobs. I'm thinking about things like The Devil is a Part-Timer, and sorta Maoyu (okay, that is a bit of a stretch). This is a lot like the Devil is a Part-Timer, only the roles are swapped.

The World God Only Kows - Goddesses (Season 3) [Anime Review]

 The last time I wrote about this anime series was way back in 2013, in the early days of this blog. My first review of The World God Only Knows was my ninth review. There is no star rating, my format was different... oh, how the world changes. I do not even know if I reviewed the second season. It might be buried somewhere in a review the covers multiple series.

Medaka Box (Seasons 1 & 2 Abnormal) [Anime Review]

I've been putting the writing of this review off for some time.
I have my reasons, but this time the main reason is that this series is actually far more complex than it first appears. To understand it's complexity you have to understand something about the current trends happening in Japan.

I must have been in a rather off mood last time I reviewed High School DxD. That or I was in a much better mood for this review. Something changed... I can't exactly put my finger on it. Perhaps it became better with age? I dunno.

A Certain Magical Index II [Anime Review]

This review is going to cover not one, but two A Certain Magical Index animations. The first is the second season, the second is the movie, The Miracle of Endymion. These anime are connected, somehow, to A Certain Scientific Railgun. (Reviews for Railgun, and Railgun S).

Welcome to a review for what may be the longest titled anime ever. I'm not certain, but the length of the title is absolutely insane. Here it is in Japanese, 俺の脳内選択肢が、学園ラブコメを全力で邪魔している,... which is just a mouthful.

C0de Breaker [Anime Review]

 "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, evil for evil."
It appears that this anime is rooted quite firmly in the idea of Lex Talionis, or the law of retaliation.

The Devil is a Part-Timer [Anime Review]

It has been a while since I've watched a dubbed anime series.
However I accidentally began watching this in English, and I always associate the first voice I hear with the character. I did check out the Japanese because I wanted to see if both the English and the Japanese language dubs had the same 'other world language.'

Maoyu [Anime Review]

Finally another update this week.
This time I'm reviewing a wonderful intelligent anime called Maoyu. Also sometimes called Maoyuu Maou Yuusha (Literally Demon King and Hero), まおゆう魔王勇者, or sometimes called Maoyu - Archenemy and Hero. Oh, and I'll use just about any excuse to use any type of kana in these posts it seems.

Pretear [Dusty Shelf Anime Review]

 

It's time again for another Dusty Shelf Review. I have lots of unwatched movies and anime littering my shelves. They will all eventually get watched, and then reviewed. This installment is an anime from 2001 / 2005 (Japan / USA) called Pretear.

From the New World (Shin Sekai Yori) [Anime Review]

I really had no idea about this anime before I sat down to watch it. The tag line does not tell you much at all, and in fact may be very misleading. "When your whole world is a lie... Truth can be the deadliest weapon of all."

Majestic Prince [Anime Review]

It has been a little while since I sat down and watched a Giant Robot anime.
It felt good. This one really felt like going back to the old school giant robot genre.

A Certain Scientific Railgun S [Anime Review]

This series is the sequel to A Certain Scientific Railgun, a series set in the same world as A Certain Magical Index (which also has a sequel). I'm not certain, but I think the Japanese title sounds better. Ignoring the morass of complex kanji (とある科学の超電磁砲), it reads as Toaru Kagaku no Rērugan.

Ninja Nonsense [Dusty Shelf Anime Review]

I flipped to the back of the last DVD of Ninja Nonsense to check the copyright. 2004 for the original work, and 2006 for the RightStuff DVD. I would bet money that this has just be sitting on my shelf gathering dust for 8 years. Good thing I finally got around to watching it.

To Love Ru Darkness [Anime Review]

I'm actually shocked that a factoid about this anime escaped me. The name of the series, To Love Ru is actually the English word Trouble. ToRabuRu, right up there in hiragana, is the Japanese phonetic (is that the right word in this situation?) pronunciation of Trouble.
