The World Only God Knows [Anime Review]

Ah, yes the Sony PlayFation Portable.

So what does God Know? God knows one thing, and one thing only - Dating Sims.

Keima Katsuragi is the self proclaimed God of Conquest (Otoshi-gami), and any girl on any platform in any dating sim is his. And as far as he is concerned the real world is utterly unimportant and beneath consideration. It is imperfect, inconsistent, and intrusive. 3D reality has nothing on 2D simulation in the eyes of the God of Conquest.
And So...
If the story stopped there it would be rather dull. Who would ever watch an anime about a guy who just plays dating Sims? And no, its not normal everyday reality that Intrudes into Keima's happy addictive world, its a demon (albeit a cute demon) from the depths of Hell.

You see long ago the denizens of Hell overthrew their evil oppressors and locked them away, so New Hell is currently a rather nice place with nice demons. Unfortunately the Evil Spirits escaped and fled to the human world, but after years and years of imprisonment they are weakened, unable to use their power. But these  loose souls, as they are called, can do one thing - inhabit the emptiness in a persons heart.

Okay, now I'm jealous.
Enter Elucia de Lute Ima, or Elsie for short. She's a bumbling cute demon from the Runaway Spirit Squad, armed with a broom (ya wanna know why, watch the show!)
Through and act of sheer arrogance, Keima ends up as her partner in capturing these Loose Souls. All he has to do is be active in the real world. The Very Last Thing He Wants To Do...

He'd rather play dating sims. He never stops playing dating sims - even in class. And yet, his pride as the God of Conquest impels him forward.

He applies the rules of the games to reality. Triggering flags, making impressions, following the path until he can see the ending.
Ah ha... we have a catchphrase.

Shobosha!
Now down to the actual BDs. Season 1 and Season 2 come in separate packs, and even though Amazon lists season 1 as a Complete Collection, they only mean a complete season 1. The BDs are not the cheapest, something I've been noticing on a lot of more recent Anime Releases. Now, yeah online prices are about half off the retail price... but that's just saying that the retail price is actually stupidly high.

How dare she try and engage me with games!
I earnestly advise watching it in the original Japanese. Like a lot of series, if you really listen you will pick up a few words, and this one really likes to hit you with a few special ones. Otamegane - Glasses Geek (from otaku and megane). And of course... -->

And now I'm jealous all over again... well, he can keep the CRT.

I do heartily endorse this series. In fact I wish that the Manga was being translated and released in the US. Season 1 & Season 2 combined give you 25 episodes of hilarity - enhanced if you have some experience playing Dating Sims (they don't have to be eroge).

I give this series my personal seal of approval. It's worth watching. In a world filled with mediocre anime, this one stands out.

I've left a lot out, on purpose. In fact I've probably given more details in this Blog Post than I've given before... Watch and Enjoy.

How innocent!
