Star Wars Battlefront [PS4 Game]

The game has been out for a little over two weeks.
The Battle of Jakku is now out.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 [Movie Review]

You know what happened today?
Ticket prices went up again. It was only a dime, but damn it - theaters just keep upping the prices.
Oh yeah... and I saw a movie.

Spectre [Movie Review]

A few days ago I saw the newest Bond movie.
I have a few opinions on it.

Star Trek: Five Year Mission [Board Game]

It has been a very long time since I've written a blog post. I've said before, there will be far less of them than there were before. I wish I could return to the old three updates a week, but I can't. There will still be big reviews, just not as many. There will also be little chance of me reviewing individual episodes of TV shows (which makes me sad).

The Last Witch Hunter [Movie Review]

Some movies are just fun to watch.
They are not brilliant, and they might not even really be good... per se.
But they can be fun, and that is what this movie is. Fun.

Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth: Rising Tide [PC Game Expansion]

I liked Beyond Earth well enough when I first got it. However I will admit that unlike Civ V, my interest waned quicker than expected. Each leader in Civ V presents a very unique play style. I did not feel the leaders in Beyond Earth were as unique.

Star Wars Battlefront BETA [PS4 Review]

So... you know that Star Wars kick I've been on.
Well, there's more. Lots more.
Expect Star Wars for the next few months.

The Martian [Movie Review]

Third review in a week. It's almost like I'm back on schedule. I'm not, but its a nice feeling. Anyways, I have another review this week. It is for a movie that I've been waiting for...

Miami Connection: Rifftrax Live Fathom Event (Rifftrax Event)

I love The Crappening. So far the three movies I've seen have been very hilarious. I'll be honest, I'm not sure I'll be able to go and see the new version of Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny. That movie is just creepy.

Star Wars Aftermath [Book Review]

So there is a new Star Wars novel out, one that is meant to fill some of the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. The novel is called Aftermath

Tiger and Bunny [Anime Review]

This poster is from the movie, which will not be reviewed here. Deal with it.
I started writing this post several days ago, but due to life I failed to finish it. I've decided to rewrite the introduction to explain this tiny fact. I would love to go back to writing three days a week on this blog, but I do not expect to be able to do that for some time. If I ever can. I will maintain this blog for as long as possible, reviewing films and anime and books and games.

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials [Movie Review]

I have certainly been slow on my reviews, but with new movies its hard to pass up the chance to talk about them. Especially science fiction movies...

Marvel Star Wars Comics [Multiple Comic Reviews]

I consider this to be a part of my own personal journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens - a review of all the currently released Marvel Star Wars Comics. Oh there will be more, I'm currently reading Aftermath by Chuck Wendig. That review will be up later. For now - Comics!

Galaxy of Trian [Board Game Review]

So, I got in on a kickstarter last year.
It finally arrived.
I finally played it.

X-Wing Imperial Raider Expansion [Table Top Game Review]

Click for larger size... it's very nice.
It has been a while since I've reviewed an expansion for X-Wing Miniatures Game.
That needs to change.
Now.

Firefight [Book Review]

You've possibly been wondering what happened to the last few updates. Well... I had a change in schedule, and it has wrecked havoc on me. I did manage a few hours to finish off this book... thankfully.

Limbo [PS4 review]

I like to review the free games that one gets from PlayStation Plus (PS+).
It makes me feel the $50 a year is for more than just online gaming.

Eden of the East [Anime and Anime Movie review]

This is not just a review for the anime series, but it is also a review for the two movies as well. They are inseparable from the story. So lets get to discussing that story... below the fold, or after clicking 'read more.'

Steelheart [Book Review]

I know, a mid week update. Those have been rare. However I could not wait to actually write my review for this book. Could not wait. No Friday review for this book, but perhaps Friday will involve more super heroes.

Spartacus [TV / DVD review]

I was having trouble figuring out what to review tonight, when I finally decided upon a TV show that ran from 2010- 2013 on Starz. I never saw it on TV, and in fact I never saw a single episode until after the final season was over.

Yusibu [Anime Review]

There have been a string of anime about heroes, demons, etc. getting real world jobs. I'm thinking about things like The Devil is a Part-Timer, and sorta Maoyu (okay, that is a bit of a stretch). This is a lot like the Devil is a Part-Timer, only the roles are swapped.

Star Wars RPG: Age of Rebellion [RPG Book Review]

The last time I reviewed an RPG was DnD Next. A new take on the classic d20 system.
Today I review the second installment of Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars RPG: Age of Rebellion.

Ex Machina [Movie Review]

I wanted to start this review with a line from Nietzsche. But not here, not yet. It may well come at the end.
No, first I should explain. I missed seeing this movie when it first hit theaters... I had to wait until it hit the second run screens.

The Count of Monte Cristo: Gankutsuo [Dusty Shelf Anime Review]

I was told by a friend to watch this series back in 2006 or 2007... I've put it off, unintentionally. There was just so much to watch. I finally got around to it, and wow... this was one special series.

Ant-Man [Movie Review]

So I went and saw the Marvel movie I had the lowest expectations for since Captain America (I had my doubts, and I never saw it in theaters. Those doubts turned out to be unfounded.). I'm not including The Incredible Hulk in this list, because I did not see the Hulk until recently, and it was just awful... and barely a part of the MCU. It does not have Mark Ruffalo, so it is not really the Hulk to me.

Final Episode of Top Gear [TV Review]

As you may well know, not too long ago, the good folks at the BBC let Jeremy Clarkson go over a fracas he had with a producer. I'm not going to talk about that at all in this review. This review is for what I consider to be the Final Episode of Top Gear.

Rifftrax Presents Sharknado 2: The Second One [Rifftrax Live Event Review]

Thursday night I sat through one of the worst films of all time.
Thankfully I had help. Mike, Bill, and Kevin were there to mock the film, making fun of a terrible movie.

Skulls of the Shogun [Video Game Review]

I meant to review this game last month... when it was free for PS+ users. Whoops.

Terminator: Genisys [Movie Review]

Second series reboot movie in a row!
This time for a series that I honestly have always enjoyed more than the Jurassic series.
The Terminator and Terminator: Judgment Day are classic science fiction movies by James Cameron. The later films are not as good, but not that bad either.

The Dunwish Horror and Others [Book Review]

That is the biggest image I can find for this book... sad.
Years ago, a good friend gave me a set of H.P. Lovecraft collections.
Due to circumstances, I only recently finished the first volume.

Campione! [Anime Review]

I like the way the back of the disc describes this series:
"Some people suddenly find religion, but for 16 year old Kusanagi Godo, it's that REALLY old time religion that's found him. As the result of defeating the God of War in mortal combat..."

Darkest Dungeon [PC Game Review]

Well the Steam Summer Sale is over... but I did grab a few more things before it ended.
This is the review for one of them.
This is the review for Darkest Dungeon.

Star Wars Rebels - The Siege of Lothal [TV Review]

Since Star Wars Celebration Anaheim back in April I've been looking forward to the summer mini movie for season two of Star Wars Rebels and at long last, it is here.
So lets talk about it.

Cities Skylines [PC Game Review]

Do you know what time of year it is?
It's that time of year when the Steam Summer sale comes to the internet and all our wallets get a lot emptier.
A lot.

Game of Thrones "Mother's Mercy" (Season 5 Finale, Ep. 10) [TV Review]

Another season comes to a close. A sixth will come, this we know.
I'm finding it more and more difficult to begin these reviews.
Each episode is packed with so many events that at times one feel absolutely overwhelmed.
Oh, and before we even get to the 'read more' let me warn you.
This post will be filled with Spoilers.

Jurassic World [Movie Review]

I stand confused, and amused.
This year has so many franchise reboots that, as a film nerd, I am both giddy and apprehensive about.
This will either be a lot of fun, or a lot of sadness.

Game of Thrones "The Dance of Dragons" (Season 5, Ep. 9) [TV Review]

I find myself not exactly sure where to begin.
This was a huge episode, better than Hardhome I think, but not by much. This season is certainly ending well. It is making up for the slow and banal middle I think.

Saturday, June 6, 2015

Infinite Stratos 2 [Anime Review]

I never wrote a review for the first season of Infinite Stratos.
I think I watched that well before I began my blog.
This poses a problem.

Tuesday, June 2, 2015

Game of Thrones "Hardhome" (Season 5, Ep. 8) [TV Review]

This is the eighth episode of the fifth season, Hardhome.
This is also the most divergent episode from the source material.
It may also be the best episode of the season so far.

Disney's Brave [Movie Review]

For once I think the US had the better poster.
I did threaten that I was on a Disney movie spree, or something, a while back. I even made a mistake in a previous review. When I wrote up my triple movie review of Wall-E, Tangled, and Frozen I said that the last Disney movie I had seen in theaters was Pocahontas.

Tuesday, May 26, 2015

Game of Thrones "The Gift" (Season 5, Ep. 7) [TV Review]

Welcome back to the seventh installment of this season's Game of Thrones review. This weeks episode was "The Gift," and like all of the rest in the season the title presages the last few minutes of the episode. So next week during the eighth epsiode, we can expect Hardhome to occur at the end of the episode.

The World God Only Kows - Goddesses (Season 3) [Anime Review]

The last time I wrote about this anime series was way back in 2013, in the early days of this blog. My first review of The World God Only Knows was my ninth review. There is no star rating, my format was different... oh, how the world changes. I do not even know if I reviewed the second season. It might be buried somewhere in a review the covers multiple series.

Game of Thrones "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken" (Season 5, Ep. 6) [TV Review]

Unbelievable? Unforgivable? Unfortunate? Unfaithful? I can go on...
At this point in the series, if you are a fan of the books, you are probably alternately scratching your head in confusion or cheering for what you hope is to come.

MAD MAX: Fury Road [Movie Review]

So its been almost 30 years since the last Mad Max movie was in theaters... that is a very long time. I say almost because Beyond Thunderdome came out in July of 1985... Almost 30 years. It is impressive to see a franchise rebooted after all this time.

Disney Animation Trifecta (Wall-E, Tangled, Frozen) [Movie Review]

Okay so my title image is not working out quite right. I probably need to
resize my site. That however is an issue for another day.
I said, last week, during my review of Wreck-it Ralph, that I was going to be doing a large animated movie review. I could have simply said I'd be reviewing a block of Disney films. I probably have not seen an animated Disney movie in theaters since... Pocahontas? Huzzah Amazon.

Game of Thrones "Kill the Boy" (Season 5, Ep. 5) [TV Review]

Every week I sit down with friends to watch the latest parade of deaths and poor choices that is the tapestry of Game of Thrones. I have a definite love / hate relationship with the series. There are some excellent excellent things about the series (show and books), and some downright depressingly awful things too... and no, I'm not talking about the parade of deaths. That is actually kind of cool for a book / tv series to be willing to just off and kill characters. I'll give props to GRRM for that.

Wreck-It Ralph [Movie Review]

There are movies that slip past me. Some I really wanted to see when they first hit theaters... others, not so much. Wreck-It Ralph is one of those movie that slipped past me. I did want to see it when it first came out. I just never did.

The Room: Rifftrax Live Fathom Event (Rifftrax Event)

Second showing on May 12th.
I first heard of The Room while browsing videos on YouTube, a group called CinemaSins, and the world was changed. I was watching a mockery of what may be one of the worst movies of all time. (Ok, it's actually not Manos the Hands of Fate bad... but it tries.)

Tuesday, May 5, 2015

Game of Thrones "Sons of the Harpy" (Season 5, Ep. 4) [TV Review]

This week on Game of Thrones...
Many things sort of happen, stuff gets discussed, and a few (lots of) people die. So... no change there from the previous week really.
