Helix - Survivor Zero (ep.7) [TV Review]

Welcome back to the weekly review of SyFy's new thriller(?), Helix. I still hate the tag lines, but the show every now and then does show some glimmers of quality. It can come out and be interesting and intriguing. Thankfully this week was a good week for the show, it's back up from the week before.

31 kids missing and yet no milk cartons.
Finally.

This week finally brings Jeri Ryan into the on screen cast of Helix. I've been waiting for this since the end of ep1&2... and I'm not really sure why. It probably has more to do with the fact that I recognized her from ST:Voyager.
3.5 out of 5 Stars

Mirrored Floor.
Constance Sutton (Jeri Ryan) arrived via helicopters from the parent company of the biotech labs. She is traveling with either corporate military soldiers or mercenaries. I'll be honest, I'm not fully certain.

It takes no time for her to make her mark on the show. She takes Hatake aside and immediately threatens him, talking about how they need all viral work to come in pairs 'virus & cure,' and how they need to rule... once they have 'thinned the herd.' She is going to be a ball-buster... but then again is that not the role she tends to get? Her and Trisha Helfer (Caprica Six) seem to just dominate over others... they get the bad-ass female roles.
Your research will be assimilated.

I expect to see Jeri Ryan remain  on the show for a good while (lets see how that prediction turns out). She is listed as 'Reoccurring cast' and not Main or Guest. Actually there are only four main cast members: Dr. Allan Farragut, Dr. Hiroshi Hatake, Dr. Julia Walker, and Major Sergio Balleseros (and I'm not even sold on him really being a Major anymore, he might just be another hired mercenary, or he's a corrupt soldier).
Mercenary Snow Troopers.

She's got Si-i-ilver eyes...
We do get the resolution of the previous episodes Hatake injects Jules with some stuff... the result: Jules has silver eyes and the ability to scare off or dominate the Vectors. Also, a bonus for her, she's cured of the virus. No more skin lesions... but wait a tick, she's still having hallucinations. So... is she really cured? Who knows.Well, she is also suffering either headaches or eye aches... she says her eyes are hurting. They appear to come on when her eyes flash... until of course Hatake bandages her up and helps her out. By the end of the episode her eyes are solidly silver (Hatake gave her some false color contacts, but she does not put them in before Farragut sees her eyes).

Of course we really have no actual idea what this all means.

Hatake's Silver Eyes.
We should keep in mind that Hatake was crying as he bandaged Jules' eyes. This just adds fuel to the internet theory that Hatake is actually Jules father. Sure, why not. I thought maybe he was just really happy that it worked... but I can see the possibility that he is weeping because his daughter is now like him.

This was Day 7 (also therefore episode 7), and once again we are given almost no answers but we are given even more questions. One giant freaking question: what is actually up with Constance Sutton? She dremel's her teeth! I am not kidding, she takes a dremel with grinding tool attachment and is using it on her teeth, filing them down. It's really disturbing. Really really disturbing. Also, she has obviously slept with Balleseros, and uses the sex appeal to manipulate him some. He's still going into solitary confinement, but there is something more between them. So more mysteries, and few answers. Half the season is gone and we're buried under more mysteries than we were in the beginning.
Balleseros is the sub, Sutton is the dom.
