Game of Thrones - Mockingbird (Episode 7 Season 4) [TV Review]

Well, I missed reviewing the most recent Game of Thrones episode on Sunday this week. However I do have a good excuse. My internet was down. It happens, sadly it happened last night.

It has been a while since we've seen the Mountain.
This was just a great episode.
So much occurred in just the first 18 minutes.

4.5 stars out of 5
The whole episode is just filled with new developments and awesome scenes.

Stick em with the pointy end. Bring the stabbity!
It begins abruptly in the dungeon, where Jaime is berating Tyrion for his little speech. Jamie admits to Tyrion that he will not be able to defend him. Without his right hand, he cannot beat a stable boy.

Perhaps a Trial by Combat was not Tyrion's best idea? Perhaps Bronn can step in...

"I hope to hear that song someday."

Nope.

Bronn is now married. He'd rather be married than dead. And since Cersei has the mountain as her Champion... Bronn is confident in his choice.

It takes an episode for Tyrion to finally get his champion.
Finally Oberyn Martell, the Red Viper, takes up Tyrion's cause, but not for Tyrion's sake. No he seeks revenge for the death of his sister. So for him, a chance to kill the Mountain is too sweet to pass up.
So Oberyn will fight as Tyrion's champion, but not really for Tyrion.

Daenerys has plans for the Master's of Yunkai.
And that is just a start.

The scenes with Arya and the Hound in the Riverlands are just good. First they give solace and peace to a man who is dying. They end his life, but not before we get some very important character building for Arya. She has come to the point where she now understands that the nothing that comes in death is simply that - nothing. It is neither better nor worse than suffering. The Hound stabs the man in the heart, teaching Arya where it is.

Is this ironic?
Sell-swords attack Arya and the Hound. Biter bites the Hound, and the Hound finally suffers the all too important wound. The Hound kills the Biter. The second attacker threatens them. He too ends up dead, but the whole bit leading up to Rorge's eventual death is very fun.

There are a few events surrounding Brienne and Pod as they encounter Hot Pie. And there is scene with much nudity involving the Red Priestess Melisandre and Queen Selyse.

There are a couple of scenes with Daenerys. It is quite interesting to see her treat men as men often treat women. It makes for an interesting turn, one that makes much sense. One that was long in coming.

However all of this is just lead up to the titular bit of the episode. The Mockingbird. This alludes to the pin that Petyr Baelish always wears.

Lysa goes one step too far...
I do love episodes where an annoying character is bumped off.

Sadly, next week there will be no Game of Thrones review as there is no episode. It will be a very sad Sunday without Cosmos or Game of Thrones (or Football).

This kiss is far creepier in the books... far creepier.
