Archer Season 6 [TV Review]

Archer, the most awesome spy show on TV, just wrapped up its sixth season.
I had originally wanted to do a weekly review for it as well, but I had a pretty filled docket. So instead I'm just book-ending it.

Season 6 is a sexy season.
You can probably guess my overall rating for the season, I mean, Archer is one of my favorite shows of all time... Of. All. Time.

5 out of 5. Perfect score!

Of course there were some episodes that fell short of the awesomeness that was Vision Quest (s6e5) or Once Bitten (s4e6), like Nellis (s6e7), which I personally think was the low mark of the season.

Sometimes it is a good idea to not open the bottle.
Not every episode must be perfect to have an excellent season. There are several excellent episodes that really stick out in my mind.

The first episode that really sticks out is Vision Quest, a bottle episode. The entire team is trapped in an elevator (other than Malory). The episode is plotless, but the character and dialogue are top-notch. Many running jokes are expounded, and the whole situation is just hilarious.
Archer drinks rubbing alcohol too. Like mother, like son.

... and Ray is crippled, again.
The next best episode is Pocket Listing. This episode changes the dynamics between the characters more than almost any other has. Of course the next few episodes do try and back track this, but this is a big episode. Now let me quote one of the creative geniuses behind Archer, Executive Produce Matt Thompson. ""Us getting away with the amount of sex we got away with in that episode where Archer is having sex with Lana from behind, and Lana’s breasts are jiggling all over, was great." [Source: The Daily Beast]

But we should not overlook The Kanes or Edie's Wedding. Both are very good... In The Kanes we meet Lana's parents, and watch as Archer embarrasses himself yet again. This episode has the awesome Bullitt car chase, in which they are driving a Bullitt Mustang! Excellent. Edie's Wedding is the reprise of Barry, and well... other Barry.

Nellis was the low-water mark, and possibly the weirdest episode to date, after Baby Shower from season 5.  Oh, it had it's funny moments ("I wanna fly the train!"), but in general it was just weird. Perhaps the aliens from it will reappear about the same time as the suitcase that contains whatever 'Borgnar' desires. (Yes, I know that was a Pulp Fiction reference...)

Sadly, we have to wait until next January for Archer to return. At that time we will figure out what will happen to our erstwhile 'Bad News Bears.'

And no, Ray is not dead.
This is where Archer ends... we have no idea what is next.
(And that is not New Mexico... that is Monument Valley.
Thanks John Ford.)
