Helix "The Ascendent" (Season 2, Ep. 12) [TV Review]

There is only one week of Helix left... in this season.
There are still a lot of plot hole to fill in...
A lot.

Texas had the best reaction here.
I found out that there is a nice little website, the official Helix site, that actually runs down the entire plot.

3.5 out of 5 stars
Guess what?
Here's the link. Clickety Click.

The benefit is that I can now just write about the good points and bad points of the episode without worry. You can choose to read the plot or not. The burden is totally on you to read the plot if you failed to catch the episode.
Peter dons the vest of Eli.

I've found dirt!
The good bits:
- The episode began with a wonderful misplaced music scene. We get to listen to the very calm and relaxing Flower Duet by Lakme while watching Peter and Anne hack bodies to pieces with wood axes. Calming.

- I enjoyed the bit about Astronomy. No really... it came off as the most scientific thing we've seen in episodes.

- We visit the most disturbing room in the abbey yet again. That room is just creepy. I get the message here... I just wonder who else does.

- Eli (Peter) does some dark murdering. Killing Soren's mother right in front of him (well, he was hidden, but still). Texas stepping up and being there for Soren was good too... The kid is one of the better actors in this season, and one of the more likeable characters.

Bad bits:
- I have issues with how well developed Sarah's 'fetus' is. Heck, from all descriptions it should not even be categorized as a Fetus. It should have still been in the embryonic stages. She was not showing, and the fetus in the jar is at about 5mo (maybe 6mo), which would certainly show. For how little she was showing it would be questionable if the embryo would even have begun to develop a face. This just bugs me.

- I'm just not with Allan and all this murder the immortals hoopla. It seems too trite. He needed more characterization than he's received this season. I really do not like how he's been relegated to an almost secondary character role.

Now that we are getting near the end of the season... perhaps we'll do some time jumps again. We have not seen those since Jules arrived at the abbey. That means for several episodes we've not really done the juxtaposition with the present and future. I do hope we see more and clear this up in the finale.
