Helix "Ectogenesis" (Season 2, Ep. 9) [TV Review]

Tonight episode was the ninth of the second season. The title was Ectogenesis.
It left me feeling ambivalent. This episode was just hard to get the feel of. Some good, some bad.
And it had an unhealthy obsession with eyeballs.

In not so loving memory...
Actually I put this up because you get better images the episode after
you really want them. I needed this last week.
This episode began badly. I felt like I was watching someone click through pages on TV Tropes.

3.5 out of 5 stars
It got better... but the beginning was just so full of 'meh.'

There is one continual question that runs through my mind during each and every episode.
I'm taking bets on how she ends.

Who is finally going to kill Hand Job Girl?
That sounds just awful doesn't it? But she is just the most evil person on the island... and that is saying something when you have the like of Micheal and the unstable cultist lady who stabs people. And Peter... Peter is an asshole. I have never liked his character... and he just keeps getting less and less likeable.

But back to her. She has no redeeming features, she is just a bundle of bad traits. Cruelty, selfishness, spite... that seems to be her entire character aside from her talent for manipulation. At least Lurch got his comeuppance... hopefully.

This is truly the most sci-fi thing in the show.
In many ways I'm tired of Sara's character too. However I do not really feel animosity towards her, just ambivalence. She was interesting at the beginning of the season when she was all risk-taking and adventurous. Now she's gone all one dimensional.

Balleseros is actually back and interacting with characters. We'll see how much I can stand him this season. He was one of the more villainous characters last season. More or less.

I bet he's used to being tied down with leather.
However the best thing is the return of Doreen. If you remember, she was killed by Balleseros early in the last season. She was a cool character... in fact in the earliest episodes she actually seemed like the best character.

Doreen had attitude. She made a strong impression in her short stint, so seeing her back was good. Considering that Hatake is probably gone forever, a sad thing, it was nice to see another good character from season one returning. Even if only in dreams.

In the end Texas takes a lot of risks, does something rash, and then is immediately trust into a situation where his rash decision is rendered into a stupid decision. They could have actually made that scene a little more tense. But no...
And of course we end with a tree bleeding cheesy CGI. Or something. We'll see.
